Free Leonard Now!

Dear Supporters and Friends,
We appreciate your patience while we are working on the continued drive for clemency for Leonard.  As you know, the  concert was a huge success for the media but for us financially, it was a break even event.  We knew it would be close because of the expense in working out of New York City but we felt we needed to bring a renewed exposure to as many people at one time as possible.  We owe the media success to the commitment of so many people who are as adamant as we are, in exposing the injustice of the Peltier trial to the world.  Having that said, we need to stress that in order to continue the momentum we have going, we need to raise some serious money.  We ask for your patience while we work on the strategic legal initiatives as requested by Leonard. We aren’t asking for handouts.  We have merchandise for sale, such as t-shirts, books, and items of that nature, along with several of Leonard’s paintings.  We have giclees which are like lithographs but of better image quality, for sale.  Please check out the web page.  If you are in a position to help and would like to order from our Store, please see the enclosed order form.  If you are interested in making a donation that is tax deductible,  please use the following:

What do we do next?

To all LPDOC Chapters. We have been contacted by several individuals asking for direction. What is needed is to keep up the pressure on the White House comment line and with your individual Senators and Congressman.
You should know that there is a lot of work being done by the committee and though it is not yet public, it will soon be. One of our ongoing efforts has been with Amnesty International. We will be making an announcement soon about a new international letter-writing campaign we have coordinated with AI London. AI members and chapters world-wide will be encouraged to write letters to President Obama expressing their support and concern for Leonard’s plight and calling for his freedom. This is a very big deal and will have Leonard’s picture posted on fliers and on posters. As soon as things are finalized we will post it to all chapters, issue a press release, and post it on the website.
There are several other efforts in progress that cannot be made public at this time.
We suggest that you continue to do the excellent work you have always done and take every opportunity you can to table, speak publicly at Pow Wow’s, Churches, Colleges, Union meetings and any other public events you can. Bring your Peltier banners to any and all public events you are able to attend including Idle no more.
As always the committee is in need of funding help. As you know we very successfully raised awareness of Leonard’s case at the New York concert but it was not successful financially. Please hold fundraisers in your area and send what you can to the National Office in Wisconsin.

Thank You for all you have done and continue to do for Leonard.

Announcements and Requests! ALL HANDS ON DECK!

We write today to make both an announcement and a request.

The announcement is that we have asked Indigo Cantor to take a larger role in the strategic operations of the LPDOC as a liaison.

Indigo will help co-ordinate projects and supporters to help reach maximum effectiveness toward Leonard’s freedom. She is very open to ideas and suggestions that you may have. Communication is KEY, so talk with her when you need things or have ideas.

We believe she is an innovator and that her very positive energy will be just what we need at this time. She will also help with Congressional and legal efforts and will report directly to the board.

“Indigo is an extremely important asset to the Committee, everyone please welcome her with open arms; we need everyone’s cooperation in working with her, she is very valuable to us, has come in at a critical time, and we’re grateful for her.”- LP

Many good people have come and gone in these long years and each and every one has contributed to the effort and has made a difference. The job has been daunting and many have stayed as long as they could but were eventually compelled by life and its responsibilities to move on. Most have been steadfast in the fight for many, many years. The gratitude we have for ALL of Leonard’s supporters has NO bounds.

Yet here we are, and Leonard is still locked up in a steel cage almost 2000 miles from his family and home.

You know it and we know it. It’s time.

SO, here is the request: we would like to issue a call for All hands on deck!!

As of May 2013, there are a number of strategic efforts in the works, some of which are not being made public at this time in order to properly launch them for maximum benefit to Leonard.  Leonard and the board have extreme confidence these strategies will bring forth exciting results you will all be proud and energized to be a part of.

After 38 years of working toward a goal and not realizing it, frustrations and tempers are bound to grow and need a place to go.  We must transform any negative energy or frustration into POSITIVE action! Leonard DEPENDS on it, his life and well-being DEPEND on us working in unity and cooperation. There can be NO other way.

Remember, All hands on deck. Many of you have special skills you can offer, be it writing, technical, organizing, marching, etc.   The time is NOW, to put our efforts together and push in the same direction at the same time.

This is, quite likely, Leonard’s last real chance for freedom.

When his transfer was denied last month the Prison casually told him he could reapply in two years. Leonard’s health and age may not allow for that.

In two years he may not have the stamina to apply for anything. Or worse.

In the Spirit of Getting Leonard out of Prison!!!

Statement on the Oklahoma Tornado Tragedy

Friends, Relatives, Supporters, and to the People of Oklahoma,
There are so many things in life that we question. We think that life isn’t fair. We wonder why so many innocent people have to suffer and what the lesson is, in all of this. I am thinking of the many, many people who were devastated by the tornado that ripped through Moore, Oklahoma, leaving so many families homeless and taking the lives of the 24 people, including those innocent little school children and their teachers who so bravely tried to protect them.. My heart goes out to the families as they try to make their way through this. At this time , there are no words that can reach the depth of their hurt.
From where I am, I offer my humble condolance and hope that in some way, they can hear the good words that our people offer as comfort, and that they see through their tears, the hands reaching out to help them. I offer my prayer for Creator to guide them and comfort them now, and in the days to come. I know that from my Nation of people, we wrap our arms around you and extend words of encouragement.
I am standing with you.

Letters 4 Leonard Campaign

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!!!!!

We are VERY excited about this campaign, and many of us and YOU are feeling something on the wind……. It’s time.

Supporters, Friends, Family, LPDOC Chapters;

In prayer to the 4 Directions, the LPDOC of the U.S. and Canada have joined together in setting off on a new campaign to fight for the Freedom of Leonard Peltier.

It is in the air, you can feel it. It is palpable. The energy is building, we feel it too.
This time something is different.

For almost 40 years now, people from all over the world have worked to set Leonard free. His gratitude is endless, his heart is swollen with pride in the people.

At this time, U.S. President Barack Obama is the sole human being with the power to grant Leonard his freedom. It is up to US to demand Leonard’s freedom.
We believe the President will listen to his people. It is, after all, what he has been elected to do; to listen to the people of the United States, and indeed, the entire world.

We are asking for something special. We want you to HAND-write a letter or postcard, putting your voice, your prayer, your demand in physical evidence form. The Electric petition medium has not proven very successful, for Leonard, and in some ways seems easier to ignore.

Let’s go old school. Pen to Paper.

These letters will be held in repository until 2014, when they will be hand-delivered in a visual and physical representation of our demands, through a very special LPDOC event.
Many MANY boxes of letters will be fed down a line of elders, community leaders, political figures, celebrities and indeed many of you, our tireless supporters, for all the world and media to see.

It is our belief that the sheer quantity of physical evidence representing our demand cannot be ignored.

The people demand justice for Leonard. The people demand his freedom.
Any other outcome would be an outrage and a blemish on the history of our nation.

We call to ALL peoples in ALL 4 Directions to hand-write your demand.

Be a part of the Fight 4 Freedom- put your pen to paper, have a letter writing party!
Let your voices be a part of a choir so loud, the whole world (but especially Barack Obama) can hear.

Send your letters to:
