Wind Chases the Sun
"Wind Chases the Sun: The Leonard Peltier Story" is a new
production under developement by independent filmmaker Preston
Randolf. Leonard Peltier is in full support of this production and
is hopeful that the film will reach the masses and help him win
his freedom. Without your help, however, this film will not be
able to move forward.
At this time, $30,000 is needed to "kick start" the project. These
funds will be used in several different areas of pre-production,
i.e., supply the research team with funds for travel and other
expenses; provide for the first recording sessions for the
soundtrack; meet legal expenses associated with the film; and
produce a trailer by which to attract investors to fund the
remaining budget.

Kari Ann Cowan
Many of you have come to know Kari Ann Cowan over the past several
years. Kari has been a model of dedication and hard work, but also
a lot of fun. Who can resist that smile, huh? Leonard says, "I
love that girl. Always have." Well, we do, too.
Kari has decided to pursue other opportunities by which to better
support her children. We know that Kari and the kids have made
countless sacrifices for Leonard's sake and, as sad as we are that
Kari is leaving us, we know she must follow her path. We're
certain she'll be successful in all her endeavors. And, from time
to time, we hope she'll grace us with her smile.
New Roles and Responsibilities
The Committee is evolving and staff demands are changing, too. For
example, Lawrence Sampson will be taking on special projects in
the months ahead that make it difficult for him to continue in his
role as support branch coordinator. Also, Lakoda Robideau (and his
lovely wife Kassandra) have agreed to be key organizers for
building support in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific
islands, including Hawaii. We're excited by the opportunity to be
more present and active in the region.
These changes leave a staffing gap with regard to support
branches. We didn't have to look far to find the perfect
candidates for the job. We're very pleased to announce the
addition of Peter and Barbara Clark of New Mexico as our new
support branch coordinators. Please make them feel welcome.
