Dear Supporters and Friends,
We appreciate your patience while we are working on the continued drive for clemency for Leonard.  As you know, the  concert was a huge success for the media but for us financially, it was a break even event.  We knew it would be close because of the expense in working out of New York City but we felt we needed to bring a renewed exposure to as many people at one time as possible.  We owe the media success to the commitment of so many people who are as adamant as we are, in exposing the injustice of the Peltier trial to the world.  Having that said, we need to stress that in order to continue the momentum we have going, we need to raise some serious money.  We ask for your patience while we work on the strategic legal initiatives as requested by Leonard. We aren’t asking for handouts.  We have merchandise for sale, such as t-shirts, books, and items of that nature, along with several of Leonard’s paintings.  We have giclees which are like lithographs but of better image quality, for sale.  Please check out the web page.  If you are in a position to help and would like to order from our Store, please see the enclosed order form.  If you are interested in making a donation that is tax deductible,  please use the following:

What do we do next?

To all LPDOC Chapters. We have been contacted by several individuals asking for direction. What is needed is to keep up the pressure on the White House comment line and with your individual Senators and Congressman.
You should know that there is a lot of work being done by the committee and though it is not yet public, it will soon be. One of our ongoing efforts has been with Amnesty International. We will be making an announcement soon about a new international letter-writing campaign we have coordinated with AI London. AI members and chapters world-wide will be encouraged to write letters to President Obama expressing their support and concern for Leonard’s plight and calling for his freedom. This is a very big deal and will have Leonard’s picture posted on fliers and on posters. As soon as things are finalized we will post it to all chapters, issue a press release, and post it on the website.
There are several other efforts in progress that cannot be made public at this time.
We suggest that you continue to do the excellent work you have always done and take every opportunity you can to table, speak publicly at Pow Wow’s, Churches, Colleges, Union meetings and any other public events you can. Bring your Peltier banners to any and all public events you are able to attend including Idle no more.
As always the committee is in need of funding help. As you know we very successfully raised awareness of Leonard’s case at the New York concert but it was not successful financially. Please hold fundraisers in your area and send what you can to the National Office in Wisconsin.

Thank You for all you have done and continue to do for Leonard.

Spiritual Gathering for All Nations

Wind Chases The Sun Foundation will partner with
Native American Church of Oneida to Host Prayer Meetings
supporting Idle No More, First Nations.

When: February 9, 2013
Where: Dorothy Ninham residence, N2679 Skylark Rd, Depere, WI
What: Spiritual Gathering for All Nations

Four tipis will hold prayer meetings simultaneously, and all night long in support of the work being done by Idle No More, First Nations. Listen to those that stand between us and that, that would destroy Our Mother Earth. Through foundations like
Idle No More, partnered with Oneida Native Church, and Wind Chases The Sun, experience a cultural and spiritual awakening. For those that want to raise awareness and bring support, by addressing that which interferes with Native Americans rights today, join us. Problems persist with hunting rights, fishing rights, and concern over the threat continued by legal land theft, by world corporations, and governments, through mining, and water pollution. Our tribes need full authority to stop these outside
entities, and regain the rights of control and accountability once again over our natural resources. Please join us for this special gathering for both a cultural, as well as spiritual experience. Please help us bring awareness to this strong new entity known as
Idle No More, First Nations, as they bring hope to the many. As they organize and face these concerns, let them know they are not alone, as together we can meet these challenges through commitment. We welcome all to participate.

Statement From Leonard Regarding Idle No More

Greetings, my Relatives and Friends!

It has come to my attention in the last week or so that a lot of our young people and women especially are standing up in support of our Indigenous Brothers and Sisters in Canada. It really does my heart good to see the activism and concern of the different generations of People coming together. There is great potential for educating those who don’t know about the perils that face our environment.

With personal knowledge I totally understand the difficulties of getting people to take action to bring about change.  The direction that the world corporations have taken historically and today have largely been at the expense of the Indigenous People around the world. I encourage anyone who reads these words to become involved as much as possible to stem this tide of environmental destruction taking place.

The health of our environment transcends across all walks of life.  If we don’t have healthy water, healthy air, healthy food, and healthy children we will not have a healthy future.  That is the law.  I can’t say enough how important it is that we communicate and join hands with our Indigenous Brothers and Sisters all over the world. We need to join together to bring about the change of these corporations who trample on our environmental rights.

I encourage you again to seek out the organizations that are already involved in this endeavor, and remain united with one another. I will encourage all the People that I work with and have worked with to do their part in this struggle.  I’ll close for now, but in the Spirit of Chief Teresa Spence keep on keeping on, and idle no more!
