Picketers say he was wrongly accused of the crime, and that the jury lacked the evidence to convict him.
Members of the group have reached out to the White house in an effort to free Peltier.
“He’s been wrongfully imprisoned for 41 years for murders he did not commit and it’s been proven he did not commit. The evidence against him was falsified. The FBI lied. The FBI witnesses lied,” said Armond Blackwater, who joined the picket Monday.
Picketers encouraged others to join the cause and urge President Obama to grant Peltier clemency.
